Hey Jesus, Can We Just Stop Judging Folks?
Hey Jesus,
Can we just… stop judging people for five minutes?
The way they look, their politics, how their kids behave in church—does it ever end? It feels like everybody’s walking around with a mental scorecard, handing out points (or docking them) for every little thing. Too loud. Too quiet. Too messy. Too polished.
And I’m not just talking about them—I catch myself doing it, too. I think, “Wow, she’s got it all together,” or “Well, that was a choice,” before I even realize the thought formed. Why is it so much easier to critique than to be curious? Why do we pretend to know the whole story when we’ve only seen the tiniest piece?
Maybe if we could all unclench a little, breathe a little, even laugh a little, we’d notice what You see—beloved children of God, doing their best, just like the rest of us.
Love,
Me
Prayer:
Jesus, soften our hearts.
When we’re quick to judge, slow us down.
Give us eyes to see the goodness in one another
and patience when our differences feel loud.
Remind us that grace is not something we earn—
it’s something we share.
Amen.
