An Inclusive Prayer For Mother’s Day
Loving and gracious God,
We give you thanks this day
for the many ways your nurturing love is made known among us.
We honor mothers—
those who have given us life,
those who have raised us,
and those who have loved us with a mother’s care.
We give thanks for all who nurture—
for caregivers, mentors, teachers,
and for those whose quiet presence
has sustained and guided us.
We remember, too, that this day holds many stories.
For those who rejoice, we give thanks.
For those who grieve mothers who have died,
or relationships that were strained or absent, we ask for your comfort.
For those who long to be mothers and cannot,
for those who have lost children,
and for those whose paths of caregiving are unseen or unrecognized,
hold them in your tender mercy.
We lift before you, especially those whose mothering or being mothered
is shaped by disability—
those whose bodies or minds carry burdens,
those who care in ways the world does not always see or value,
and those who depend on others for daily care.
Help us to be a community
where all are honored,
where every body is treated with dignity,
and where love is not measured by ability,
but by presence, compassion, and grace.
Make your Church a true family—
a place of belonging, support, and care for all your children.
We thank you that in Christ,
we are never alone,
but are held together in a love that does not fail.
In the name of Jesus,
who sees us, loves us, and calls us into community.
Amen.
