A Prayer For Disability Pride Month 2026

Gracious God,

You formed each of us in your image, delighting in the beauty and diversity of your creation. No two lives are the same, yet each one reflects your love, your creativity, and your grace.

As we observe Disability Pride Month, free us from the temptation to see disability through the eyes of limitation or pity. Instead, teach us to see as you see: to recognize the gifts, wisdom, resilience, and faith that disabled people bring to your Church and to the world.

Strengthen those who grow weary from navigating inaccessible spaces, misunderstanding, or isolation. Surround them with companions who see their dignity, honor their voices, and celebrate their gifts. May they know that they are not defined by the world’s expectations, but by your unwavering love.

Open our hearts to the truth that the Body of Christ is made whole not by sameness, but by the unique gifts of every one of its members. Help us to recognize that disabled people are not simply recipients of ministry but ministers, leaders, teachers, prophets, and beloved children of God.

As we gather at your table, remind us that your invitation has never depended on ability, strength, or perfection. Your kingdom is one where every person is welcomed, every voice is valued, and every life is held as sacred.

May we leave this month not simply more aware of disability, but more committed to building churches that reflect your abundant love—a Church where every body is welcomed, every body is cherished, and every body is recognized as sacred in your sight.
