A Prayer For A Blessed Fall

Scripture Reading: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

The turn of the season always feels like an invitation to pause. As summer’s brightness fades into autumn’s glow, our days fill with new routines—school schedules, church programs, and the return of familiar responsibilities. Amid the busyness, fall offers us a quiet kind of beauty: golden light through turning leaves, the scent of apples and cinnamon, the first sweater-weather morning—and, if you’re a Staten Islander, a chance to break out your UGG boots.

In these moments, we remember that the changing seasons are not just part of creation’s rhythm—they are also part of God’s care for us. Each new season invites us to trust that God is still at work, shaping our hearts just as surely as the earth turns.

Before we rush ahead into all that this season holds, we can pause to offer it back to God in prayer.

Prayer:
Almighty God,
As the days grow cooler and the light grows golden,
We give You thanks for the beauty of autumn—
for crisp air, falling leaves, and the rhythm of the seasons.

Bless this fall with moments of quiet wonder
and hearts that notice Your presence in simple things:
the laughter of children at play,
the scent of apple and cinnamon,
the colors of harvest fields.

As schedules quicken and responsibilities return,
Grant us balance and peace.
Root us in Your steadfast love
so that our work bears fruit
and our spirits find rest in You.

Bless our homes and our church family
with warmth, kindness, and joy
As we walk together into this new season.
